Flash Floods Ravage Arunachal Pradesh Power Colony, One Dead and Four Missing
Flash floods caused by intense rainfall devastated the NEEPCO colony area in Poosa, Keyi Panyor district of Arunachal Pradesh, killing teacher Nirmala Gupta and leaving four people missing. The disaster damaged homes, destroyed a highway bridge, triggered landslides, injured 17 people, and prompted ongoing rescue operations by NDRF and SDRF teams.
The deceased has been identified as Nirmala Gupta, a teacher who lost her life in the disaster. Four individuals, identified as Elesh Marak, Balari Marak, Tao Anjina, and Sourav Kumar, remain missing as rescue teams continue extensive search operations.
The sudden flooding severely impacted the area, damaging 18 houses and destroying a highway bridge. Multiple landslides were also reported, blocking several key transportation routes and further complicating rescue and relief efforts. At least 17 people sustained injuries during the incident, while several others were rescued from affected locations.

Teams from the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force resumed search operations at dawn on June 25 despite persistent rainfall and challenging conditions. Rescue personnel continue to search flood-affected areas in an effort to locate the missing individuals.
In response to the disaster, Chief Minister Pema Khandu directed authorities to provide immediate assistance and relief to affected residents. Neighboring Assam has also remained on alert as authorities monitor the evolving situation amid continued rainfall and the risk of further flooding and landslides.
The tragedy highlights the destructive impact of extreme weather in the northeastern region, where heavy rainfall continues to pose serious threats to lives, infrastructure, and transportation networks. Search and rescue operations remain underway as authorities work to assist affected communities and assess the full extent of the damage.
